![]() I expect to start with bullets in the 55-65 grain range. ![]() Gun is a Savage 12BVSS 223rem and was wondering what loads you guys have had best luck with these bullets Gun has a 26' barrel with 1-9 twist. 223 case you will see that it will go down way past the junction of neck and shoulder. Sfire Bullet Well I have a new 223 bolt gun coming my way and I expect to be testing some new 22cal bullets made from 22lr brass. Be aware that the Ruger manual recommends using cannelured bullets and the first time that you seat a 68 grainer in the little. 223 cases, sort, size-decap, trim, load with a good bullet up to 68 grains, then crimp. My thoughts are to get a good supply of once fired. Another limitation is the 1-9 twist and magazine size - the 77 grain Sierra. I would expect that the Ruger Mini 14 comes witha rather generous dimensioned chamber to allow use of 5.56 X 45 military ammo. I use a RCBS tool to swage out the primer pockets. Once fired military brass comes with crimped in primers. When the varmits start wearing steel helmets I will switch to these. ![]() This bullet has a steel penetrator (armor fiercing) and shoot ok but not as good as the Noslers. I seat the bullet even with the cannelure then crimp using a Lee crimp die.įor FMJ I have used the same loads with the M885 or M855? (either or?) 62 grain bullet using the same routine as above. I sort (eyeball) my brass to attempt to get same manufacture then full length resize then trim to spec length. This bullet has a cannelure to aid in crimping. I use moderate loads (from various manuals) of Ramshot TAC. I have had good results with the available but pricy. 77 grain and above will not stabilize with a 1-9 twist.
